Temperatures to hit 40 degrees in Mallorca

Mallorca's weather is being hit by a heat wave that could make this year's summer of the hottest in the last years. The Balearic Government has set the red alert.

While by now the temperatures in Mallorca where around the 23º degrees during the night time and around 36º during the day, now the temperature it is expected to pass the 40 degrees with this heat wave.

The Balearic Government is now on red alert and starting a campaign to keep people informed about the risks of exposing to the sun for many much time.

Tourist coming to the islands are many of the times not really of the risks that larges exposures to the sun can cause. First of all, if going to the beach, avoid the hours from 12:00 to 16:00 and use enough sun cream protection during all time. Secondly, but not less important, drink plenty of water. It does not matter if you are thirsty or not, you should at least drink two or three litres every day. Wear light clothes, use a hat or a cup and keep and eye on your children times of exposure to the sun and a few of the practices you should keep in mind for your safety.

Alcohol is heavily consumed in vacations, but should be drunk in a moderated manner as it dehydrates those consuming. Among this risk, it is really easy to, after a long a funny night, find yourself sleeping in the beach and then wake up with an insolation. In case you feel yourself or a friend displaying signs of excess sweating or if your skin looks red and burned, go the nearest safe guard post or red cross office and ask them to give you adecuate treatment to prevent any more dangers.
