The National Institute of Meteorology has advised Mallorca and the Balearic Islands of heavy rains due to the remains of the Vince hurricane arriving to the Mediterranean area this Thursday 13th of October.
The Hurricane Vince started at Madeira, in Portugal, an unusual area for hurricanes to be originated. Most of the times, this kind of meteorological events have their origin and come from tropical areas and this has surprised the forecast institute.
While only the remains of the Vince will be arriving to Mallorca and the rest of the Islands, during Thursday heavy rains at around 60 litres per square meter and strong wind are expected for this day. The Spanish mainland will suffer in a major degree these remains, which will look a less than small tropical, so the INE has not decided to put neither the mainland nor the Islands on alert.
People planning or with an already planned holidays and vacations on Mallorca for this weekend should be advised to keep this in mind, but flights delays are not expected due to this exceptional weather situation.
