Revetla de Sant Joan

22/06/05

"La Revetla" is the night before Sant Joan and is in fact the most celebrated by the bast majority of locals and foreign in Mallorca.

The main celebration will be taking place at the Ciutat Jardi beach, a little bit in the outskirts of Palma in the way to "Es Arenal". The night wil begin at 20:30 with the first two concerts and at 22:00 the Palma's mayoress Catalina Cirer will light the traditional "fogueró" (bonfire).

Following, around 22:45, wil take place the show of the "Batucada" & the "Bestia Esquixafoc" and a new "correfoc of dimonis" (an spectacle of running demon's & fireworks). From there and until the end there will be some musicians playing from hip-hop to flamenco.

Please remember: it will be more than crowdie, so keep this mind when planning your night. And please, leave the car at home parked if you are going to drink.

Outside Palma

While Palma will be most probably the biggest one, Son Servera, Sant Joan and Porreres will be also celebrating this journey, where we have to emphasize the followings:

  • Son Servera: Music and fireworks at the "Plaza del Mercat" during the night.
  • Sant Joan: "Festa del Sol que Balla" (the dancing sun festivity). A walk from the municipal school to the "Santurio de la Consolacion" with a final show for children.
  • Calvia:
  • firebones along many of the beaches of the municipality from nine o'clock as the Palmanova Beach or the "Es Toro" one.

Sant Joan has arrived. Mallorca's summer is here. And for those wondering... this year's summer looks like it's going to be one of the hottest in a long time.
