Dijous Bo Fair – Inca

The Dijous Bo fair market at Inca is the most important of the fairs celebrated during the autumn season in Mallorca (Majorca), and possible the biggest of the celebrated during all year round. Dijous Bo is also a social event, where the whole island seems to be in Inca.

Celebrated every year during the 3rd Thursday of November, the Dijous Bo (literally translated as Good Thursday) really begins the night before, with the unofficially called Dimecres Bo, when the youngest of the island celebrate the fair during all night long along the street of Inca with lost of music and alcohol. The day ends with a correfoc by the Dimonis d'Alaró group and a musical fiesta in the Plaza Verge de Lluc.

The next, Thursday, is when the real fair comes up with a massive participation from both exhibitors and visitors from all around the island, including a whole journey of events and activities programmed during all day long, which includes but is not limited to cultural and sporting activities. During this fair it is often said that Inca becomes the capital of the Mallorca island, and the big amount of people visiting the city is a confirmation.

At the Dijous Bo you could find everything to be sold at good rates: from leather goods & shoes (the typical industry of the city), hand made souvenirs, food and species of all kinds to new cars or even live animals.

The only drawback of this is that being so popular the fair gets massified and is often difficult to arrive or to walk along the streets during this day. Some tips you should keep in mind if going there are:

  • Avoid going by your own car if you are not willing to wake up early in the morning. The road is to Inca is fine until 10:00 am. Later on it only could produce panic.
  • Better: take the train. There will be a lot departing from the Plaza de España every few minutes and special services for the event. These will safe you a lot of time and money. Timetable for departures from Plaza de España can be checked here (pdf file) and for coming from Inca here (pdf) .
  • Buses are also available, but better disregard them as the problem will be the same as driving by yourself: lots of traffic
